Unihoc was founded in 1972 in Mölndal by floorball visionary Carl-Åke Ahlqvist. A few years earlier, he introduced the sport in Sweden by importing plastic hockey sticks for indoor ball play.
In this way, both floorball and Unihoc have developed side by side, making Unihoc the oldest still-active floorball brand in the world.
Today, Unihoc is a world leader in floorball equipment and exports its products to more than 60 countries. Over the years, the company has launched several innovative products that have had a major impact on the sport.
Unihoc’s development through the years:
- 1972 – The first floorball stick, Original, is launched. The stick is made of polyethylene and is 80 cm long. It is still a bestseller in several countries today.
- 1992 – Kevlar Standard becomes the first stick model with a shaft not made of plastic. With its length of 95 cm and stiff material, it revolutionized the game by enabling harder shots.
- 2004 – Unihoc is acquired by Renew Group Sweden AB and moves to new premises in Mölnlycke.
- 2006 – Curve is launched, a stick model with a curved shaft that makes it easier to shoot harder shots. The technology quickly becomes a major success.
- 2011 – Unihoc becomes the official supplier of floorball equipment to the International Floorball Federation (IFF).
- 2014 – Unihoc launches its first collection of floorball shoes adapted to the sport’s high pace.
- 2017 – Unihoc and Renew Group move to a newly built facility in Mölnlycke where production, warehouse, and administration are gathered under one roof.
